FULL 3D PRESENCE FOR REMOTE COLLABORATORS

THE PROBLEM

At this point we thought we would be communicating through holograms like the ones you see in movies, but we are still using 2D images on a flat screen.

Why is that?

The complex technical challenges of the 3D scanning industry causes the yearly loss of billions of dollars in budgets that could be lower, but more important, the loss of billions of hours of creators all around the world, making innovation in this field slower than it could be.

On one side complex and expensive devices used on industrial settings or in high budgeted productions. On the other, devices that you move around the scanned subject while the model is still… try to scan your son or pet with this…

Do you see the sweet spot where we serve both sides of the spectrum?

THE PROPOSAL

WE ARE CREATING AN ARRAY OF DEVICES

that collects the 3D depth and textures of a subject using multiple devices that combined, can capture from a small room to big sports stadiums. It's a Flexible and Portable polygons transmission cluster.

We call it PolyCluster.

LET'S GET TECHNICAL

THE SYSTEM HAS THREE PARTS:

1 - A cluster client like a hive of devices that bring spatial data to the system (from your smartphone, to special towers, to normal cameras with addons)

2 - An algorithm that helps encode the 3D information like “LEGO for space”

3 - A processing system that, like the internet, manages the multiple kinds of data inputs and transfers it to the right place.

THE VISION

WHAT YOU ARE SEEING IS THE WORK IN PROGRESS TOWARD THE VISION

of portable and flexible devices ready to work in very sturdy conditions helping capture reality in a dynamic way, not just 3D static models, but 6DoF spaces with a 360 surround.

A vision that the advent of technologies like 5G and global internet access like Starlink, will only help to accelerate.

WE HAVE THE VISION OF A FUTURE WHERE…

Your memories, favorite sports or collaboration sessions, go beyond 2D images on a flat screen, becoming volumetric memories that you can revisit and replay.

OUR MOONSHOT

is to make PolyCluster part of the devices used in the Artemis Mission by 2024, letting Astronauts make holographic transmissions with immersive capabilities enabling anyone in the world to stand in the captured area with a 6DoF 360 view of the moon surroundings.

THE TEAM

THIS VISION IS HARD TO ACHIEVE ALONE

So, let’s break it into tiny progress made by an awesome team of people that wants to see this happen in their lifetime.
